Camping

A few weekends ago we went camping to Garner State Park.  It was so much fun!  By chance we got the best camping spot in the park!  We were right up against a big hill and it was absolutely gorgeous.  We had so much fun playing on the playground, exploring, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows, telling stories around the "campfire" (due to the dry conditions we could only have a fire to cook), seeing deer and turkey, and fishing.  It was so perfect until...

Our neighbors showed up at 12:45 am!!!!!  Agh!!!!!  They were so loud!  They set up their tent, built a fire (which I thought was illegal), and made plenty of noise until after 3:00 am!!!!!  What the heck!  Brock and I were so ticked!  Luckily, the kids did not wake up.  Then at 6:30 in the morning they yell, "6:30!"  Needless to say, we were a little tired that day.  Brock made us a yummy dutch oven breakfast after which we went to the playground.  When we came back they were gone.  Their car was still there so we thought maybe they were taking a nap so...our car alarm went off, the kids were screaming, rocks were getting smashed together, and more noise!  Yeah, later we found out they weren't even there.  Shoot.  That would have been sweet revenge. :)  So Luke and I lay down for a nap while Brock takes the kids fishing.  Of course the neighbors were back then to cuss and be completely inappropriate while we were trying to sleep again!  I tell you this story because I think it's funny.  It really was a perfect weekend.  It just could have been even better if our camping neighbors never showed up!

We were all so dirty by the time we got home!  You're not supposed to be clean when you're camping, right??  I kept thinking that when I was watching everyone check in at the entrance.  They were all wearing such nice clothes.  And then there was us... :)

Going fishing with Daddy
Brock said he made the kids give him the worms to put on the hook and they did a good job with it.  Doesn't actually surprise me too much with Brek.  You'd think because she's a girl she wouldn't like to get dirty, but she's my child who is always the first in the mud and dirt trying to get the other 2 to join her.

A view of the park
This is not where we were actually camping, but you can see how pretty it is.
