October 2013

This month started with an awards assembly for Brek.  She is a very good student and always gets good awards.  She is pretty shy at school so she didn't want to look at me for the picture.

And of course, lots of football this month!!!  Overall, the games were nice and mild so it was pretty comfortable going to them.  One game was freezing cold though (first playoff game)!!  We had to go sit in the car at halftime to warm up!  At which point Luke peed in his diaper which leaked on to my lap.  Lovely.  Back in the stands after that where Brek started crying she was so miserable.  Finally headed to the car to watch the end.  Yes, we are troopers. :)  Oh yes, did I mention Coach Payne?  He had a TERRIBLE cold/flu/sickness during all of this as well where he faithfully stood on the sidelines coaching his boys!  But we won big!

I had to get out my camera to take pictures of proof that we were outside playing in water in the middle of October!!  Sometimes there are great advantages to living in the South.

As always, Brek is the boss.

These next pictures crack me up.  I had to post all of them so you could see just how sassy my little girl is!

Gotcha, Mom!

Our annual Family Home Evening Jack-O-Lantern

I love Luke cheesing in the background!

Daddy getting Brek

Luke's hair is sooo long in this picture!  We loved his long hair so it took a while for us to finally cut it.  When we did, Brek cried saying she liked Luke better with long hair! :)  Sweet sister.

And Tyce!

Look what showed up on my favorite rocking chair!  I wonder who could have done this?  (P.S. Does this remind anyone in my family of someone??  Aunt Tamra!!!)
Before our church Halloween party (Oct 30)
Batman and Vanellope von Schweetz
I had more things for Brek's costume that would have made her look even more like the character, but this is what my stubborn child thought looked best!  Oh well!  She's still my cutie!

Luke the lion was being super stubborn and didn't want to take pictures or wear his costume.  It came off not long after this.

Halloween day ready to go trick or treating with our friends!

September 2013

In an attempt to catch up on our blogging since I'm so far behind, I am going to just sum up our months.  September was spent going to football games, taking Brek to and from school, and watching these two crazies!  My boys kicked it up a few notches since Brek went to school.  Here are a few pictures of what they were up to...

They were of course "playing so nicely" in their room.  I go to check on them and discover fingernail polish all over them!  Luckily, not anywhere else.  Miracle?  Absolutely!  I was planning on heading to the bank to open an account that day, but there was no way I was taking them now since they looked like they were covered in blood!  Have I opened a bank account here yet?  No, I missed my one chance! :)

And here are some pictures of them in their normal attire at home...

One night all ready for bed...

My little snaggle tooth

On a side note, Brek has been doing great in school and I think she enjoys going for the most part, but getting her there every morning is absolutely ridiculous!!!!  Her clothes are never right (although SHE picks them out every night), her socks ALWAYS feel bad and she has to go through at least 7 pairs trying to find the one that feels just right, and her shoes are a major issue as well.  In the beginning, the shoes were the biggest thing.  We bought her new tennis shoes.  After two days of that, she went back to her old shoes because something of course was wrong with her new ones (too slippery for PE).  Then we got to the point of rotating between 2 outfits because those were the only 2 pairs of her tons of clothes that she liked.  What did that mean for me?  Laundry every night!  Was it worth it for her to go peacefully to school in the morning?  YES!!!!

Also, another issue was that she didn't like for me and the boys to walk her in to school (she would stand at the doorway and not go in to her classroom).  She wanted to walk in with her friends.  And if we missed her friends in the morning...major meltdown!  Finally, the school counselor started helping us out by walking her in every day.  Brek loved this.  So, things were going pretty smoothly for a while.  But now since the Christmas break it has been back to fighting her every morning to get to school!  The counselor has hurt her ankle and is never there in the morning anymore.  So the boys and I walk her in (15 minutes late mind you), and she stops at the doorway and won't budge.  Lately, the nurse has noticed Brek struggling and will come and get her.

So if you have actually made it to the end of my long rant, I would love some suggestions or ideas.  This morning I turned to bribery (not the first time mind you), and it seemed to work for today.  If she gets to school on time for 5 days she gets Dairy Queen ice cream.  In the beginning, the counselor said she felt like Brek was just having a little separation anxiety.  Thoughts??

District Champs!

Sabinal finished the season as District Champions!  And might I mention...not a single district team scored a single point on us!  We are so excited for playoffs now!

Oct 11 (W)
Sabinal         38
Rocksprings   0

Oct 18 (W by forfeit against Medina)

Oct 25 (W)
Sabinal      63

Nov 1 (W)
Sabinal                 63
Nueces Canyon     0

Nov 9 (W)
Sabinal        33
D'Hanis        0

My parents were able to come down for the district championship game against D'Hanis (Cary Shane and Diana also made it over after a trip to San Antonio).  The game was AWESOME!!!!  The stands were PACKED and people were lined up all along the fence (including the band since everyone stole their spot in the stands).  Sabinal and D'Hanis are big time rivals especially since it's only 10 minutes down the road.  The boys (and coaches :)) were pumped up and the intensity was high the entire game.  Let's hope it keeps up for playoffs!  We have a bye this week.

It was so great to have family there for the game, but of course I did not bring my camera.  Sorry guys.  Love you and thanks for coming!!!

Next week starts district play!  Wish us luck!

It has been interesting going to football games with 3 kids this year.  Unfortunately, it has been pretty much what I had imagined.  Lots of watching little kids running around going crazy and little of watching a football game! :) One of our really good friends from here got a job coaching with Brock so we have been having fun going to the football games together with my friend Charmayne and her 2 kids.  It has been nice because we help eachother out.

Luke seems to be my craziest child yet, as he is the one running everywhere!  One football game, I was watching a woman frantically searching for her child thinking how scary that feeling must be when what do you know?  Luke is gone not 10 minutes later!!!!  He was at the opposite end of the stands just climbing up.  All of my children have so far been pretty shy and stick close to me when we are in public.  Not Luke!  If he gets a chance, he is gone!

Another football story...We were at a game when all of a sudden they just stop playing.  All of the players are just standing around, and we have no idea what is going on.  After forever, we finally are told that they are waiting on EMS to get to the game (no one was hurt).  Apparently, there was one ambulance that was assigned for 2 football games that were about 5 minutes apart.  The superintendent of the other team demanded that the ambulance be on site at our game.  After 1 HOUR 45 MINUTES, the ambulance pulls up!  People in the stands were jokingly saying that someone should call 911.  Let's hope their response time would have been better. :)  After all of that, we still had several minutes left to go in the 2ND QUARTER!  It was a long night to say the least.  But that was the Pettus game, and as you can clearly see, we won.

Here are some pics from a pep rally...

After halftime a few people leave and we end up spreading out.
Here we are taking up 4 rows!

And proof that Luke is not afraid of anyone!  No, he does not know either of those people and neither do I!  I guarantee that he was touching them to turn around or something else even.  This one is so "fun" to watch at the games!

We took about 10 pictures and this was the best!  Pretty pathetic, huh??  We will try again another time!  I can't blame them though as it was probably at least 10:30 at this point.

And last of all, I have to brag on my husband a little...
The line is playing very well, and we have really good stats for our running game, so I would say that he's doing a pretty good job.  But don't tell him I told you! :)

September

The month of September in pictures (excluding football of course)...

Now that Brek is at school, Tyce is in charge of the computer at nap time which means he gets to choose whatever show on netflix that he wants to watch!  He loves it.  And as you can tell, lots of times he falls asleep while watching his shows.  Here is one funny position he feel asleep in.

Luke is a big time Daddy's boy.  Here he is getting some quality Daddy time.

A friend from church invited us to San Antonio to the Children's Museum.  We had a blast!  Here is Luke playing there.

Here is Tyce and Caroline getting ready for work. :)

Luke cheesin'

Brek found some chalk and decided to write Daddy a message on the concrete (Please excuse the oil stains on the ground!).  I told her what letters to write, but she did all the rest on her own!  She's learning lots in kindergarten!  P.S. Notice the cute hole in her front bottom teeth?  She has lost both of her front bottom teeth!  She had a wiggly tooth about a week before school started and I refused to believe that she was old enough to lose a tooth.  That's not supposed to happen at least until 1st grade! :)  She lost them right after school started.

This is where everyone wanted to sit during scripture time one night.  Can you tell we've been missing Daddy since school and football have started??

And another sleep pose from Tyce.  So sweet.

First Day of School!

Brek started Kindergarten on August 26th!  She was so excited!
We have been talking it up for a few months now, so it was about time!
This is before school that day.

I did not ask her to pose for me like this.  I said, "Let's take a picture."  And this is what I got...
What a character I have!

And of course the boys, too!  As you can see, Tcye was ready for school as well!

Brek and I have both really been ready for her to start school so there has been nothing but excitement from our house about school starting, but of course when it was time for school to actually start I got to thinking about how Brek is not my little baby anymore and how quickly she's growing up!  So by the time we got to the parking lot of the school I was all teary eyed!  I fought tears the entire way in!  All of the teachers had the kids sitting against the wall outside of their classrooms until the bell rang.  I was planning on staying with Brek until the bell rang and walking her into class, but I lost it.  I was really about to just start bawling so I hugged her and left!  I didn't want her to see me crying and then her get all nervous about school.  She was totally fine!  No hesitation from her at all, which is what I was really afraid of.  She loved her first day!  And I survived somehow... ;)

Of course a couple of days later we did end up having a little incident (The computer lab teacher got on to the class about tracking mud into the room.  This made Brek cry and not want to go to school anymore!), but it's all been taken care of.  Brek tells me all of the time about how nice the computer lab teacher is now! :)  She loves school!

Brek's 5th Birthday!

Brek turned 5 on August 12th!
She loves anything barbie so I looked up cake ideas online and came up with this one!

My beautiful 5 year old and me!

Tyce, Brek, and Luke

While Brock was taking pictures he noticed that we were in the mirror!
So here is our attempt at a "family picture." :)

Our party people!
This was by far the best shot of all of the kids who would not hold still (and it is missing one little girl!).

This is our version of the Hunger Games dress...

Brek would not blow out her candles this year!  Here Tyce is finishing the job for her.  So for a running total that means she has only blown them out one year of her life...last year!  She is my shy little girl!

I love this little girl so much!  She has really grown up this past year!  She loves her brothers and is always taking really good care of Luke.  Seriously, it's really cute.  Any time Luke is crying Brek will go hold him or comfort him.  She has been really excited to turn 5 because she knows when that happens that she can go to school.  I love her silliness and girliness!
