Back to Childress

Just a little silliness from the Payne girls...

After being in Childress for 2 1/2 weeks in June and then getting to see my parents again in Austin right after that, we decided that even though Brock got the whole week of the 4th of July off that we better not go back to Childress again.  Then we checked the mail... and got a huge water bill for our big rental house in Childress.  I texted my renters on Sunday morning and got bad news from both of them.  In the big house...leaky toilet, clogged bathtub, and clogged kitchen sink.  In the beauty shop...water on the floor of the 3rd station that would sometimes even go back into the bathroom.  Great.  So after church on Sunday we took off yet again to Childress where the kids and I went to play and Brock went to work.

I thought Brek looked like such a hippy with that shirt of Kacy's on, the necklace, and long wavy hair.  So beautiful.

For the 4th Dad cooked hamburgers and after dinner we ran out to pick wild plums for him on his lease.  The kids loved riding in the back of his truck...

I never think to take a picture of Brock and myself so we finally took one.  Not the greatest, but I sure do love this man!  We're waiting for the fireworks that night by Dad's office.

We went the next night out to Christopher and Mandi's house to play.  We had a lot of fun!  Brek found a new friend in Kaywen.  We stayed way too late and laughed way too much. :)

Brock had been working on the big house's plumbing issues and finally got to the beauty shop on Wednesday afternoon (we needed to leave that night because Brock had coaching responsibilities on Thursday).  He discovered a pretty big problem...a leak in a pipe inside the exterior wall of the beauty shop which caused water to leak into the shop.  Yikes.  Did I mention that it was HOT water leaking?  Ugh.  I went over to help for about an hour (of course I wasn't much help) where we had to call the city to come shut off the water because there was not a shutoff for us to turn because the city had recently broke it.  Dad came and took over for me and they got it done!  Brock stayed and patched up the siding and what not and got back to Mom and Dad's at about 8:00.

We ate and right as we were about to start packing up to leave a huge storm rolled in!  The wind was blowing like crazy and the electricity cut off.  We were finally able to leave at about 10:00.  We drove all night and got home at about 4:15 AM.  That night at dinner Bruce fell asleep while eating.  This was pretty much how all of us felt after the drive the night before...
