Watch Luke Grow...

Luke has changed a lot since our last post with him in it.  I thought you might like to see how much he's changed since then.   I love this little guy!  This picture is the last one that was on our blog of him.

He has 7 teeth, crawls, pulls himself up to standing, and will be 9 months on the 1st of Aug.

A Tribute to Camp Wood

The brief on what has happened in the Payne family: Brock has accepted a job as the manager of Williams and Conner Jerky in Uvalde, TX. We are super excited and have loved it so far. This means being in the same town as church, grocery, doctor....you name it! But this blog post is a tribute to the home we are leaving. So here goes...
A few of the many reasons why I am going to miss Camp Wood...

The thing that I'm sure Brock will miss the most: HUNTING!

Brock's latest trophy (Axis deer shot in our "backyard")

Axis Brock shot at a friend's a few months ago

Brock and Tyce "hunting" in our backyard
I'm pretty sure not very many people can hunt in their backyard...

This is Brock and Brek about to leave on a hunting trip.
The kids are always begging Brock to take them hunting!

Brock would take the kids on "treasure hunts" down behind our house.
This is Brek with her bucket of treasures.

I just had to add this old pic in of the kids playing in the mud.
I loved that I could send the kids outside and not have to worry about someone snatching them up or a busy street or whether or not they had clothes on!  Their favorite thing was to run around out front and play in the dirt (and more often than not the mud they made by turning on the water).

Next are a few pictures of the "wildlife"...
I was reaching to turn off the water when I saw this.  I thought it was a stick hanging on the water hose holder and was about to knock it off when I realized it was a stick bug!!!  The biggest stick bug I have ever seen!

Here it has moved to the back window.

We have watched at least 3 hatchings of baby birds under our roof of the front porch.
We even picked up one that had fallen and fed it grasshoppers for a couple of days.

This is a Momma turkey and her 8 babies.  They were so cute and were always coming in our front yard to get water from the swimming pool that had a hole in it and would leak everywhere!

One of our favorite things to do when Brock was out of town or working late (and then it become a Sunday ritual to go with Brock) was to go the "zoo".  There is a ranch north of Camp Wood that raises zoo animals.
This is actually across the street from the "zoo" where they have camels!

Peacock

Black Buck

Giraffes

Sable Antelope.  Had never seen these before.  They are beautiful!

It was hard living so far away from everything, but it really became home to us.  We will really miss our "country" life.  Goodbye Camp Wood!
